Earth Day 2022: Algorand shines a light on blockchain sustainability in Times Square

On Earth Day 2022, Algorand took over Times Square to shed light on our carbon-negative blockchain. We flooded the iconic intersection with 47 screens of Algorand green before fading them to black.

Times Square going dark for one hour saves 6,500 kilowatt hours of electricity, equivalent to the power needed to process 350 million transactions on the Algorand blockchain.

The activation earned 40 million impressions, with Algorand seeing a 71% increase in brand mentions, and was also awarded multiple Webbys and an OBIE award.
